Lighting, the fundamental concept of photography.
This simple yet powerful tool defines form and texture, creates mood and can make or break a composition if you don’t understand it well. The objective of this photography lighting course is to provide a solid foundation of the visual and technical skills necessary to pursue and appreciate photography further. This course covers all aspects of photography involving natural light, available light, external camera flashlight, studio strobe light, and presentation of the final image.
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: Understand the basic technical aspects of lighting, camera settings, light ratio, continuous/flashlight, hand-held light meter, exposure control, selecting appropriate f-stops and shutter speeds for different picture taking, interpret in-camera reflected light meter readings, identify and make correction in the areas which need to be addressed, communicating with your subject and posing your subject.
Besides visual and technical skills, students will able to use various lighting to improve their photography as a medium of personal expression, demonstrate the creative process through class discourse, to improve their thought process and decision making.
Our training program embraces a three-part format which includes theory, application and review/critique. The six sessions are a mixture of classroom, studio and outdoor for the optimal learning experience.
