Visual Storytelling Course

Introduction:

If Phase 1 was the disciplined Application of rules—learning the grammar of framing through techniques like the Rule of Thirds and symmetry—then Phase 2 is where you become the conductor of the image. Visual storytelling represents a profound shift into the art of Orchestration. It is the transition from simply organizing subjects within a box to intentionally directing the powerful interplay of light, shadow, and human connection. In this course, you will move beyond the technical checklist to orchestrate the complex relationships and juxtapositions that reveal a hidden story. This is your invitation to stop taking snapshots and start conducting visual symphonies that resonate with depth, purpose, and a unique artistic voice.

Course Description & Expectations:

This intensive four-session journey bridges the gap between technical framing and cinematic storytelling by focusing on the total orchestration of a visual project. We begin with the Mind-Eye session, where you shift from reactive application to proactive pre-visualization, learning to define your relationship with the subject before the shutter even clicks. Your growth continues through two distinct Field Labs: the first focuses on orchestrating narrative sequences and the decisive moment in natural daylight, while the second challenges you to conduct mood and mystery using evening shadows and complex light juxtapositions. The experience culminates in Visual Synthesis, where you perform the final act of orchestration by editing and sequencing your work into a polished five-to-eight image master study.

This course requires active engagement during real-world practicals and a willingness to participate in constructive peer critiques. By the conclusion of the program, you will have moved beyond the “correct” shot to produce a professional-grade photo essay that proves you can orchestrate a moment into a timeless narrative.

Our training program embraces a three-part format which includes theory, application and review/critique. The sessions are a mixture of theory and practice for the optimal learning experience.
